Hello everyone, I hope you all are having a fantastic day so far. Currently in the Chicagoland area, we are experiencing freezing temperatures, with the wind chill it currently feels like (-45 ℉)  😬, so to all my Chicago peeps, please keep warm and safe! However, last year I wrote a post on must-watch Netflix shows (2018), so I figured I’d update everyone on new shows I’ve watched within in the past year. All of the following shows, happen to be Netflix Originals and they are all my favorites. I tried to include a variety, so that there is at least one show that appeals to you, (however there are no horror shows that I have watched entirely, so I apologize to all my spooky lovers). take out the snacks, and prepare for the Netflix marathon that awaits you!

Must Watch Netflix Shows | Winter 2018

Well it’s winter and we all know that whenever it’s winter we would rather stay in and watch some tv shows rather than going out to the gym (whelp, there goes New Year resolutions) haha! However for those of us that enjoy the company of a good show and a satisfying snack, you have come to the right place.

Throughout this article I will share with you my Must-watch favorite tv shows that are perfect to binge on! Now while we all have different tastes, hopefully there is a show that you will be interested in watching, if not maybe venture out! Grab some popcorn and enjoy this post!

For the Comical watchers: Portlandia (IFC)

This show is just an 11/10, I have no idea where to begin. Okay so this series is not your average show, but your average joe, (see what I did there). Portlandia is a show that primarily consists of two actors: Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein who happen to not only play themselves in the show, but also numerous of other diverse characters, in the City of Portland. The episodes are almost like vignettes, focusing on several characters throughout one episode, since most series are not like this, I find it quite more amusing. The average show is usually about twenty-two minutes, just enough time to get that laugh in for the day. Lastly, I will say the first two episodes are slightly odd, but once it’s done with,  prepare for the hysterical laughs. My favorite characters would have to be Candace and Toni, they made me laugh the most!

For the Empowering Women: GLOW (Netflix Original)

Glow or as its called Gorgeous. Ladies. Of. Wrestling, is a Netflix original that takes place in the 1980’s, where women are eager to start their career of acting. It starts off as a lame gig that many think will fail, but as these ladies go through their “Glow-up”, they rise to the star of success. Glow is a must see for women strength and empowerment.

For those that like a Creepy Fright: American Horror Story (FX)

Whenever I’m in a mood for a spook I will watch AHS and become addicted. Some viewers might say that there’s nothing frightening about AHS, however everyone’s tolerance is nonetheless differing. Whether or not your you think it the show is eerie, you cannot deny that the show itself is entertaining and will keep you watching. Every season consists of a new plot. Personally I would argue that season 1: Murder House, season 2: Asylum, season 3: Coven, and season 6: Cult, are the most entertaining and most frightful was probably Asylum!

For those that enjoy a Rom-Com-Drama Telenovela: Jane the Virgin (CW)

Gina Rodriguez plays Jane Villanueva a young twenty-year old girl, who is a journalist and happens to become a pregnant virgin. This show is just about everything you could want to watch in a tv series. It contains juicy drama, the romantic love triangle, and the humorousness. Jane is that girl in Miami, living with her mother, Xiomara and her abuela, Alba. To see Jane’s journey of her new life, check it out on Netflix!

For the Adventurer Goers: The End of the F***ing World (Netflix Original)

James and Alyssa are both tired of their uneventful lives in their small town in England. The two both decide to run away from home and go on a road trip. Throughout the trip the encounter some problems that lead them to become some of England’s most wanted! The two cannot deny their romance for one another as it strengthens throughout their excursion. This show is a short series of eight twenty-minute episodes, that can only be watched on Netflix.

For the Blatant Viewers: Shameless (U.S. Version on Showtime)

Viewer Discretion Advised: For anyone who would consider themselves shameless in any way, well then you found the right show for you. Just as a warning I would not recommend watching if you are under the age sixteen as there is explicit content all throughout the show. The show consists of a dysfunctional family of seven who live on the South side of Chicago trying to get by, all going through their own personal struggles. There really is no other way to describe this show other than well, shameless. Personally one of my top favorites because it includes a little bit of every genre.

I really hope that you enjoyed this guide on what to binge watch on Netflix this season. These are all of my personal favorites and although I have so much more, I had to limit my choices. Whether or not you may be interested in one of these shows, I would recommend trying to watch any one of these series. Let me know down below if you decide to watch one of these tv series or comment your favorite show! As always please like if you enjoyed.

 Much love, Ariana.
