Pride Makeup Look 2018/// Cruelty-free

Hello everyone, I know it’s been awhile since my last post, and I apologize for being so inactive. Last week I started work again (I work as a swim instructor at a local pool), and then some other things came up and because everything was so new again, I did not know how to balance my week out, anyways I hope to get back into my routine of posting at least twice a week.

I hope you all are doing well, and since I have hardly posted this month, I just wanted to wish everyone a very happy Pride Month! For those of you who do not know, June is known as Pride month for all those who identify as LGBTQ+, and today I am showing my support for the community and well of course celebrating Pride! I’ve been wanting to do a Pride rainbow makeup look for quite awhile and since throughout the month of June, Pride fests and parades are happening all over the world, I thought I’d show you one makeup look to try out. I will be attending Chicago’s Pride Parade this upcoming weekend, and I’m planning to complete this same makeup the day of. Anyways I hope you all enjoy this look and maybe even try it out for yourself.

Starting off with the eyes of course, since it happens to be the main action of our look. I decided to mimic the Pride flag on my eyes, a rainbow transition from red, orange, and yellow on one eye and on the other, green, blue, and purple. For today’s look, I used the BH Cosmetics “Take me to Brazil” Palette and the Nyx Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette in “Brights”. I used a few different brushes, that I will mention in the process of this look.

Before starting this eye look, I did apply the Urban Decay Skin Concealer onto my eyelids using my Beauty Blender, and then setting my eyes with the shade “Peach Butter” from the Too Faced Peachy Mattes Palette, (You can use any light neutral shade).

The first color I begun with was the yellow color, I started off towards the inner corner of my eyes, building it into my crease. I used a mix of the two yellow shades in the TMTB palette, using a “Beau Gachis Tapered Blending Brush” that I received in my Ipsy bag a few months ago. (I probably had the most trouble with the yellow, the pigment really was not showing up for some reason, which why it took me a little longer).

The following color was the Orange that I used on the center of my lid, I used a blend of the orange from the TMTB palette and then the tangerine shade in the Nyx palette. To apply the orange, I used an It Cosmetics shadow brush, this is really good for picking up color. (Orange was the other color I struggled with for some reason, hopefully when I do this makeup look again, the color is more pigmented).

The last color used on this eye, was the Bright Red. This is where the pigmented really started to show up. There is only one matte Red shade in the TMTB palette, and to apply the color onto the outer corner of my eyes/crease, I happened to use the “It Cosmetics Precision Shadow Brush”, another brush I adore.

Once I had gotten all three colors onto my eye, I then blended them with the “BH Cosmetics V5 blending brush” to make sure that there was not any harsh lines and to give it an ombre effect. I also wanted to mention that if I use a repeated brush, I do clean it with the Vera Merona Mini Color Switch, to remove any of the previous colors.

Next up is my other eye, which holds the other three colors of the Pride flag. I went ahead with the Green first, starting in the inner corner of my left eye working it into the crease. The first green was from the TMTB palette and then the darker green was from the Nyx palette to begin the transition for the blue. To apply the green colors, I used this thin brush that I also received in my Ipsy bag a few months back, by SL Miss Glam.

With my blue shades, I used the same brush when I did the Orange. I decided to start off with a turquoise like blue and then darken it up with a midnight blue color, as it would be transitioning to the purple.

Lastly, for my purple color, I kept it pretty simple and only used one color. Using my Wet n’ Wild Large Eyeshadow Brush. To compact and slightly smoke out the color.

That completes my eyeshadow look, and now onto the glitter magic. (I finished the rest of my face makeup before starting on the glitter). For highlight, I used the cream highlight stick by Milk Makeup in Techno, I know they were promoting this for Pride Month, so I am unsure if this is sold only for a limited time. Next, I applied the Nyx Glitter Primer with a little precise brush by Real Techniques, where I decided to primarily focus on the highs of my cheekbones. I applied the Nyx Crystal Glitter with the same brush and just compacted a bit onto the primer. I decided to keep it to a crescent shape.

Once I was done applying the glitter to both sides of my cheekbones, I finished off by highlighting areas of my face with the shadeChehoo” from the Babe in Paradise Palette.

That completes the final Pride Makeup look. I am no MUA, but I was happy with the way everything turned out. I do hope that the colors come out more pigmented on the day of the Pride Parade and I will also be applying more Glitter than I did here. Hopefully you all enjoyed, and happy Pride! 🌈 I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who follows my blog, I hit 200+ followers!

Valentine’s Day Simple Glam Look | 2018

Hello beauties, Chicago’s currently having a snow day today, we are expected to have a foot of snow by tonight, I love snow so this is pretty great. Since there is a snow day today, I decided to take advantage of the day and work on today’s blog post and a few other ones! For today’s post I will be showing you a Simple Glam Valentine’s Day Makeup Look, (as a disclaimer I am not a makeup artist or anything, but I do love makeup and love to share my creativity with all of you). I hope this post gives you ideas for Valentine’s Day makeup, I kept today’s post shorter and I will also link down all the products I used down below.

Products Used:

Close-up of the Modern Renaissance.

1st Step: To start off, I use the shade Buon Fresco as my transition color, using my Luxie 205 Tapered Blending brush. I blend the color to get a seamless base for my eyeshadow.

2nd Step: With the same brush I previously used before, I apply a bit of the color “Burnt Orange” into the crease.

3rd Step: With my Luxie 229 Tapered Blending brush, I apply the shade “Red Ochre” to the outermost and innermost parts of my crease, leaving the middle empty, doing this adds a bit of depth to my eyes.

4th Step: Taking my Wet n Wild Large shadow brush, I compact the shade “Love Letter”, on the center of my lid, working it into my crease. I make sure my lid is bright and fully covered. (The color really starts to pick up here).

5th Step: With the color “Venetian Red”, I use the Real Techniques Shading brush to apply along my lash line, slightly smoking it out, and to darken the outer corners of my eyes.

6th Step: Using “Venetian Red” again, I take my bh cosmetics V5 Blending brush to really blend out “Love Letter” and to make the shadow look seamless.

7th Step: Now for the shimmer, I use the dense side of the brush that comes with the Modern Renaissance and apply the color “Antique Bronze” first packing it onto the center of my lid, then taking “Vermeer” and doing the same thing, and lastly applying the shade under my brow bone to define it, and that completes the eye look!

For my face, I will not go into to much detail, since it is very similar to my Current Makeup Routine | Winter 2018, however for blush I decided to use the color “Breeze”  from the ABH Radiant Blush kit. For highlighter I used my mini Becca Rose Gold Highlighter and for my lips I used the Essence Prisma Glow Shine Lipgloss. A simple glam casual Valentine’s day makeup look.

Here is the completed Makeup look. (excuse my hair, I am just staying home all day). The shimmer also does not show up very well in this photo, so my apologies.

I hope this look inspired you for Valentine’s Day makeup, and if it did then please do not forget to like. Current Makeup Routine | Winter 2018

Happy Friday, I hope everyone is doing well today! Today’s post is going to consist of my current makeup routine! I am excited to be sharing my go to makeup look today. Now I do not wear makeup everyday; however when I do go out and decide to put on a full-face of makeup this will be my casual look. My makeup routine often changes, but these are the products that I am currently using throughout my routine.

As a disclaimer all these products are cruelty-free, and my makeup routine is pretty minimal. These products work pretty well for me and if you have any questions at all about the products then ask me down below. Now onto the routine!

Makeup Prep:

I find that to get the ultimate makeup application it is best to have a fresh cleansed face. Whether I shower or wash my face, I go in right after with my Pacifica Dreamy Youth Day and Night Face Cream mixed with my Lush Grease Lightning Tea Tree and Aloe Gel to create my moisturizer (Winter Skin Essentials\\\2018). To prime my face, I use the Pixi skintreats H2O Skindrink: Pure Hydration Geljust a little goes a long way. Lastly, spraying my face with my Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber, and Green Tea, to lock in all that hydration and moisture into my skin.

Eyeshadow:

I start off my makeup with eyeshadow just in case I ever have fall-out, I am then able to clean up with the rest of my routine. My go-to palette is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow palette, definitely a cult favorite for many beauty gurus or makeup lovers. As my transition shade I use “Warm Taupe” using my Luxie 205 Tapered Blending brush seamlessly blending the tone into my crease and lid. Then, I use the same blending brush to blend “Buon Fresco” onto the center of my crease by doing a halo effect, in the center of my crease. To add depth for the corner of my eyes, I take my Blending Crease brush from It Cosmetics 105 and dip it into “Red Ochre” lightly and blend in a circular motion. Taking my Elf Crease brush, I apply the shade “Vermeer” to add a pop of highlight underneath my brow bone arch. That completes the simple eyeshadow look that looks amazing in sunlight if I do say so myself. (Also please excuse my brows, I am currently growing them out, so the natural look is going to have to do for now. Either way I do not do anything to my eyebrows except comb them through with an eyebrow gel.)

Base:

Currently, I have been using the Burt’s Bees BB Cream in the shade Light/Med that I apply with a Black Original Beauty Blender (my favorite way to apply any foundation/bb/cc cream). I have not had any recent breakouts, and luckily my skin is actually pretty decent right now. My one skin issue is slight hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and around my upper lip. Surprisingly, I find that the Burt’s Bees BB Cream has good coverage, it illuminates the skin, and it is very moisturizing. For concealer I will be using the famous Tarte shape tape in the shade light neutral, for those of you that are unfamiliar with the concealer it is extremely high coverage, which is why I use a Silicone Liner Brush by Real Techniques to be precise with the application under my eyes and in other areas I want to conceal such as, my upper lip or above my brows.

Setting the Face:

I usually prefer my face to be more matte since I have oily skin, but throughout the winter I also want that glow; which is why I do not bake but instead lightly set my face using one of my holy grail products, the Laura Mercier Translucent loose setting powder. I dip my beauty blender into the lid and set the makeup under my eyes and on my T-zone to prevent oil and creasingOnce I am done setting my face, I apply my NYX HD Finishing Powder (My favorite finishing powder that does not cause flashback in photos!) to reduce shine throughout my T-zone using the BH Cosmetics V2 Face Brush.

Bronzer/Blush/Highlight:

For bronzer I used the Bahama Mama Bronzer by the Balm Cosmetics, a favorite of mine on the sides of forehead and temples. I also lightly contoured my cheekbones to define them naturally, using my Real Techniques Contour Brush. The blush I reached for was the Wet n Wild Coloricon Blush in Mellow Wine 328B using my Real Techniques Blush Brush (Real Techniques is my favorite brush line, their brushes are synthetic, extremely soft, and cruelty-free). For highlighter I went back into the ABH Modern Renaissance palette and took the same shade I used to highlight my brow bone, “Vermeer”, using the SLmissglam highlighter brush that I received in my Ipsy bag this month.

Eyes:

To curl my lashes I use a Sephora eyelash curler and finally apply a few coats of the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara, a sample that I received in my November glam bag. Short and simple, just the way I like it. A tip I recommend doing before applying mascara is, to comb through your lashes with either a lash or brow comb, this really helps separate the lashes and gives them a fuller look!

Setting Spray:

I often switch my setting sprays, but as of now I am using the Mario Badescu Rosewater Facial Spray. Perfect for that natural glow and helps keep makeup in place with a delicate scent of roses. Also for my lips (not pictured) I used the Burt’s Bees Lip Shine in Peachy, a sheer gloss.

The Final Look:

This is my final makeup look, I love the natural glow that this look gives, it especially looks gorgeous in the sun. I hope you appreciated this post, if you did please like and subscribe! Also comment down below if any of these products are in your current makeup routine.
