Monthly Thought/// February 2019

Hello, I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday so far. Today’s post will be bringing up a series I tried to have on my blog last year (however was only for May of 2018). Anyways, moving forward throughout the year I will be doing a series on my blog called “Monthly Thought”, each month I will be posting a blog entry of what’s on my mind currently or something that I feel needs to talked about. This will be a way to express myself through words and connect with my audience. Through these “Monthly Thought” posts, I will be conveying my vulnerable side in my writing, that typically does not get shared often.

Lately, I have been having this insane amount of gratitude in life. I have came to the realization that things in life are not as always complex as they seem to be. As the state that I am currently in, I can say that I am no longer feeling hopeless as I used to be, and now when I look for happiness I look for it in the smallest of things that I appreciate. I used to believe happiness derived from a person (whether that be a S.O, friend, or parent, etc.), a specific thing, or even a job. However, I find that happiness is something that comes from within and although it is not necessarily the actual feeling of happiness, it is the feeling of content and/or satisfaction. I used to suffer from severe depression, to the point where it affected my life through my relationships with others, my academics, and even my relationship with myself. It has been a long time since I have felt true happiness, and although there has not been many, I am incredibly grateful for the happy moments I did have. Occasionally, I feel depressed or I have a few weeks randomly where depression decides to creep up on me, and although it sucks, it is an improvement from the past. I cannot say that I am happy or in other words completely content, but at least I am no longer sad. Slowly, but surely I am making progress to my well-being and through practicing gratitude, I am able to appreciate more in life. A question I want all of you to ask yourselves, how content are you with your life currently, and are you incorporating gratitude into your life?

This was a very random thought, but it is something I wanted to get off of my chest and talk about. I hope in someway this post gave you insight or gave you a new perspective to look at. I promise next week’s post will be much more lighthearted.

What’s in my Ipsy Glam Bag for February 2018?

Hello everyone, it is officially Friday, so happy weekend! I am back with another Ipsy post, of what I received in my Glam bag for the month of February! Personally, off of a first impression, both my January and February glam bags are neck and neck, however I do prefer this month’s theme and bag itself more than January’s. (See What’s in my Ipsy Glam Bag for January 2018?).

This month’s theme is “Unzipped”, about embracing everything you are. It is about redefining sexy, and that you are not limited to a specific size, shape, or age. I think this is a great theme especially for February, practicing self-love and celebrating the beauty everyone holds.

It cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Waterproof Concealer in Medium Tan

I am a huge fan of It Cosmetics, I love their CC+ cream, it’s my go-to! I have tried the concealer once before, and I will say I was not a huge fan. I felt that it was very heavy, and although it is full-coverage, it creased for me. I am willing to try this product again, because before the shade was actually too light for me, so fingers crossed for this one!

LUXIE 249 Double-Sided Eyeshadow Brush

I absolutely love LUXIE eyeshadow brushes, they are my all-time favorite, so when I received this brush, I was so excited! This brush is double-sided, one side it is similar to my Tapered Blending brush, in between the sizes of 205 and 229. On the other side, it is a dense precision eyeshadow brush, I also think it can work for concealer, so I will definitely try it out for that.

Pacifica Beach Crystals Natural Mineral Eye Shadows

I love Pacifica skin care products, so when I heard they have a makeup line, I was very eager to try it. The colors are very unique shimmery colors, that come in cute crystal holographic packaging. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the brand Pacifica, they are 100% vegan and cruelty-free! I will also be doing some swatches down below!

From the swatches down below, I did go over the color twice to try to give it the most pigmented color. I really like “Spaced Out”, however the colors are unfortunately not that pigmented, but I will try to make them work, and let you guys know in a later post!

Biobelle Perfecting primer Sheet Mask

Okay so this product is a sheet mask that you use as a primer before makeup application, it claims that it “enhances radiance, minimizes pores, and evens skin tone”. The concept itself seems very intriguing, and the mask also says that it is, free of parabens, gluten-free, and non-gmos. However, something that I am upset about is the fact that no where on the package does it claim to be cruelty-free, and granted that not all products mention their animal-testing policies, I could not even find it on their site, so if anyone knows if Biobelle is cruelty-free please comment down below, it would be a big bummer if they are not. 😦 Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

PUR Cosmetics Fully Charged Mascara

Last but not least, is this mascara by PUR Cosmetics. I have not really had the opportunity to try PUR Cosmetics, but I do know that they are cruelty-free and are mostly vegan. Also I have been loving the mascaras I’ve receiving in my Ipsy bags!

Valentine’s Day Simple Glam Look | 2018

Hello beauties, Chicago’s currently having a snow day today, we are expected to have a foot of snow by tonight, I love snow so this is pretty great. Since there is a snow day today, I decided to take advantage of the day and work on today’s blog post and a few other ones! For today’s post I will be showing you a Simple Glam Valentine’s Day Makeup Look, (as a disclaimer I am not a makeup artist or anything, but I do love makeup and love to share my creativity with all of you). I hope this post gives you ideas for Valentine’s Day makeup, I kept today’s post shorter and I will also link down all the products I used down below.

Products Used:

Close-up of the Modern Renaissance.

1st Step: To start off, I use the shade Buon Fresco as my transition color, using my Luxie 205 Tapered Blending brush. I blend the color to get a seamless base for my eyeshadow.

2nd Step: With the same brush I previously used before, I apply a bit of the color “Burnt Orange” into the crease.

3rd Step: With my Luxie 229 Tapered Blending brush, I apply the shade “Red Ochre” to the outermost and innermost parts of my crease, leaving the middle empty, doing this adds a bit of depth to my eyes.

4th Step: Taking my Wet n Wild Large shadow brush, I compact the shade “Love Letter”, on the center of my lid, working it into my crease. I make sure my lid is bright and fully covered. (The color really starts to pick up here).

5th Step: With the color “Venetian Red”, I use the Real Techniques Shading brush to apply along my lash line, slightly smoking it out, and to darken the outer corners of my eyes.

6th Step: Using “Venetian Red” again, I take my bh cosmetics V5 Blending brush to really blend out “Love Letter” and to make the shadow look seamless.

7th Step: Now for the shimmer, I use the dense side of the brush that comes with the Modern Renaissance and apply the color “Antique Bronze” first packing it onto the center of my lid, then taking “Vermeer” and doing the same thing, and lastly applying the shade under my brow bone to define it, and that completes the eye look!

For my face, I will not go into to much detail, since it is very similar to my Current Makeup Routine | Winter 2018, however for blush I decided to use the color “Breeze”  from the ABH Radiant Blush kit. For highlighter I used my mini Becca Rose Gold Highlighter and for my lips I used the Essence Prisma Glow Shine Lipgloss. A simple glam casual Valentine’s day makeup look.

Here is the completed Makeup look. (excuse my hair, I am just staying home all day). The shimmer also does not show up very well in this photo, so my apologies.

I hope this look inspired you for Valentine’s Day makeup, and if it did then please do not forget to like.
