Spring DIY Projects///2018

Hi everyone, I am finally getting around to my Spring DIY projects post! I worked really hard on making these diy’s so I hope you all love them. I also thought it would be fun to show you all a time lapse of my process making these diy’s, hopefully the videos turned out well (this is my first time, lol). These projects are very inexpensive and super cute, not much is required, and they are not difficult at all. There are a perfect way to spring up your living space this Spring/Summer. Without further or do, let’s jump into the fun.

Cute Succulent Plant Pots

Materials Needed:

  • Terra cotta pots (2)
  • Succulents or plants of your choice
  • Martha Stewart Metallic Gold Paint
  • Patio paint in the color of your choice (Blue Bahama)
  • Foam Brush/Paint brush
  • Painter’s tape
  • Newspaper
  • Stones or pebbles for planting

Instructions for Painting Pots:

  1. Start by pouring the color paint of your choice to paint your first coat on your pot. (I used a foam brush first, however I switched to a regular brush after the foam brush was not giving the pot full paint coverage.
  2. After painting about 2 coats, you want to set aside your pots to air dry for awhile, about 20-30 minutes.
  3. Begin choosing your design, I highly recommend Pinterest for ideas! (I first tried to complete a gold triangle on on side, however when I put the masking tape on, it was not fully dried and chipped off a bit of paint. So I improvised and just used two index cards to create a sleek triangle look.)
  4. Take the second color of your choice, in this case it was gold for me. I just began painting the triangle area until coated. (This paint was not as full coverage as I expected, however I did end up liking the marbleized look it gave the pot.)
  5. For your second pot, repeat steps 1-3, either making the same design as the other or choosing a different style. (I first did polka-dots, but I did not like it as much, so I then painted it silver, adding a gold triangle pattern on the rim of the pot.)
  6. Let them fully dry for about a day, resisting any moisture. Then on the following day you may begin to plant them.

Instructions on Planting Succulents:

  1. Once both your pots have completely dried, you can begin to plant them. Start of by pouring in about half an inch of your pebbles into the pot.
  2. Then  take out your succulent (I recommend it to be pre-planted in which most come in, so that you don’t need other soil).
  3. Once I place my plant inside, I spray some water to moisten the soil a bit, pushing down the soil all round the sides to elevate it a bit.
  4. I go in with another few sprays of water to hydrate the soil since it was dry.
  5. Once I get the plant into a straight-up position, I put the black stones all around near the top to equal out the soil level, (the pebbles are good for soil drainage since the roots of succulents do not to well in water).
  6. Lastly, spray your plants with a few squirts of water to hydrate them one last time. (Succulents really should only be watered once a week or once they are dry to the touch).

Easy Spring Flower Wreath

Materials Needed:

  • Grapevine Wreath
  • Faux Flowers (of your choice)
  • Glue gun
  • Floral Wire Cutters
  • Twine or string
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Start by collecting the flowers you’re planning on using, then using the floral wire cutters, cut them however short you’d like them.
  2. Gather all your floral pieces, then rearrange them however you’d like on the wreath.
  3. After warming up your hot glue gun, begin to glue either on the floral pieces or the grapevine, then placing your piece down, making sure to apply pressure to the glued area.
  4. Continue to repeat Step 3, until you are satisfied with the way it’s looking.
  5. Lastly, cut a piece of twine, begin wrapping it at the top of the wreath, then hot gluing it down, and then cut another piece repeating the same step, until it is fully covered on top.
  6. Your flower wreath is then ready for display!

Okay so the next one isn’t necessarily a DIY, however it’s a little area that you can create in your room or living space to bring some relaxing vibes and zen into your life. My zen area happens to be on top of my bookshelf and on it I have various Buddha’s to look for spiritual guidance at times, plants for some freshness, and my cute candle. It’s very simple and does not require too much, make it however you’d like. Down below I will state what I have in my area and where everything is from.

Cute Little Zen Display:

  • Geometric Terrarium- Michael’s Craft Store
  • Pebbles inside terrarium- Michael’s Craft Store
  • Real Succulent Plant- (Any Garden Center/store)
  • Faux Succulent Plant Holder- Michael’s Craft Store
  • Buddha’s-various places/mostly in Chinatown.
  • Small Candle- Anthropologie
  • Ceramic (candle) trays- Little boutique (can be found at Homegoods)

//Self-Care Activities// 2018

Hello everyone! I am very sorry that I have not posted recently, I have been a bit busy, and unfortunately, I hit writer’s block! However, I do have a list of some posts I plan to do. Since it is finally the weekend, I thought I would give you guys a list of some self-care activities/things to do for yourself this week and forever. These are personally some of my favorite things to do when, I am in need of just relaxing.

  1. Taking a bubble bath: Okay, so this is probably the most basic one, but I mean it’s honestly pretty great, I personally love taking baths before going to bed, I sleep a lot better and it relaxes me. I recommend using a lush bath bomb or a bubble bar in your bath, for a sudsy experience, not to mention, you can listen to your favorite tunes or watch Netflix like I do, lol!
  2. Taking a nap or sleeping in: Look everyone needs their sleep, and whenever you have some downtime, take advantage of it to sleep, this will help clear your mind for a bit and help energize you.
  3. Going for a walk: Sometimes all it takes is fresh air to help soothe you. So go outside, and take a walk. It can be your neighborhood, a forest preserve, or out in the city. The walk will give you some time alone with your thoughts and give your inspiration.
  4. Journaling: The power of journaling is absolutely incredible, it’s a space for you to write down whatever your feeling and just let it all out. Even if you’re not a writer, just writing down what’s on your mind will release the stress you are feeling. If your unsure, then perhaps look up mindful prompts to give you guidance. Never underestimate the power of writing down what you feel.
  5. Meditate: Meditation is the best way to practice mindfulness. To sit and just be with your thoughts. There are so many guided meditations on the internet, YouTube, and some helpful apps; Calm and Headspace. Meditation is difficult, so do not expect to just instantly have a clear mind, it takes time and even if it’s a feeling of discomfort with all these thoughts coming to you, sit through it, because in the long run this will help.
  6. Create some art: Let your mind express itself and create what you feel. Art is always expressive no matter what it is. Whether it’s doodling, painting colors, or a montage of pieces, just do it because it is uniquely created by you.
  7. Binge-watch on Netflix or Hulu: Honestly, this might be my favorite, watching tv for me is just a way I like to not worry about anything and just worry about my show! However, I would set a limit so that you are not watching tv for 8 hours straight, but at least once a week, feel free to binge watch your favorite show. So get your favorite snack, throw on a face mask, and watch away! I have currently been obsessed with watching old “Jersey shore” episodes (Don’t judge lol, I love this show)! 😂

Okay, well hopefully these was helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to comment down post ideas that you would like me to post on my blog. Do not forget to like and comment down which activity you will do this weekend! 🛀IMG-2019

What’s in my Ipsy Glam Bag for February 2018?

Hello everyone, it is officially Friday, so happy weekend! I am back with another Ipsy post, of what I received in my Glam bag for the month of February! Personally, off of a first impression, both my January and February glam bags are neck and neck, however I do prefer this month’s theme and bag itself more than January’s. (See What’s in my Ipsy Glam Bag for January 2018?).

This month’s theme is “Unzipped”, about embracing everything you are. It is about redefining sexy, and that you are not limited to a specific size, shape, or age. I think this is a great theme especially for February, practicing self-love and celebrating the beauty everyone holds.

It cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Waterproof Concealer in Medium Tan

I am a huge fan of It Cosmetics, I love their CC+ cream, it’s my go-to! I have tried the concealer once before, and I will say I was not a huge fan. I felt that it was very heavy, and although it is full-coverage, it creased for me. I am willing to try this product again, because before the shade was actually too light for me, so fingers crossed for this one!

LUXIE 249 Double-Sided Eyeshadow Brush

I absolutely love LUXIE eyeshadow brushes, they are my all-time favorite, so when I received this brush, I was so excited! This brush is double-sided, one side it is similar to my Tapered Blending brush, in between the sizes of 205 and 229. On the other side, it is a dense precision eyeshadow brush, I also think it can work for concealer, so I will definitely try it out for that.

Pacifica Beach Crystals Natural Mineral Eye Shadows

I love Pacifica skin care products, so when I heard they have a makeup line, I was very eager to try it. The colors are very unique shimmery colors, that come in cute crystal holographic packaging. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the brand Pacifica, they are 100% vegan and cruelty-free! I will also be doing some swatches down below!

From the swatches down below, I did go over the color twice to try to give it the most pigmented color. I really like “Spaced Out”, however the colors are unfortunately not that pigmented, but I will try to make them work, and let you guys know in a later post!

Please excuse my hairy arm!

Biobelle Perfecting primer Sheet Mask

Okay so this product is a sheet mask that you use as a primer before makeup application, it claims that it “enhances radiance, minimizes pores, and evens skin tone”. The concept itself seems very intriguing, and the mask also says that it is, free of parabens, gluten-free, and non-gmos. However, something that I am upset about is the fact that no where on the package does it claim to be cruelty-free, and granted that not all products mention their animal-testing policies, I could not even find it on their site, so if anyone knows if Biobelle is cruelty-free please comment down below, it would be a big bummer if they are not. 😦 Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

PUR Cosmetics Fully Charged Mascara

Last but not least, is this mascara by PUR Cosmetics. I have not really had the opportunity to try PUR Cosmetics, but I do know that they are cruelty-free and are mostly vegan. Also I have been loving the mascaras I’ve receiving in my Ipsy bags!
